Marlene Zagon has been in Human Resources for over 30 years and remembers when it was called Personnel. She started her career in New York and was the first American and first female manager hired by a Japanese import company. Upon arriving in San Diego in 1979, Marlene went to work as an office and personnel manager at a computer manufacturing company when mainframe computers were still the rage and it was there that Marlene got to know the personality of the “engineer”.
In 1989 she went to work at the Center for Creative Leadership where she managed the research department under the direction of Ann Morrison, author of many books, the most noted being “Breaking the Glass Ceiling – Can Women Reach the Top of America’s Largest Corporations?” Ms. Morrison and Marlene left the Center in 1992 to start New Leaders Institute, a successful consulting and research firm whose emphasis was working with Fortune 1000 companies and assisting them in instituting diversity programs to help minorities and women “break the glass ceiling”.
In 1999 her love for human resources brought her to Littlefeet, a start-up wireless infrastructure company in Poway where she helped the organization grow from 7 to 135 in just over a year and where she remained until Littlefeet closed its doors in January 2004. She then moved on to Entriq, now Irdeto USA, Inc. a firm of many facets including web based security and content management. While there Marlene helped grow the company internationally by building offices in Shanghai , London , Buenos Aires and Brazil . She was on the mergers & acquisition team and helped to incorporate several companies in one Irdeto.
Marlene holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from San Diego State University and is certified as an SPHR and SHRM-SCP She is also a certified peer counselor.
